Acute Rescue And Transport – Our Story
On February 7, 2011, Acute Rescue and Transport, Inc. was modestly founded with two fully equipped Critical Care ALS ambulances and a focus on superior emergency medical care with a focus on quality customer service in Boise, Idaho.
ART was the first private ambulance agency in Idaho to hold a Critical Care pre-hospital support EMS license, which means ART has the same level of licensure as the 911 agencies in Idaho. By January 2012, due to radical growth and an increased demand for services, ART expanded to an indoor facility, providing sleeping quarters for on duty crew members as well as administrative offices, and a temperature-controlled environment for all vehicles and medical equipment.
By 2018, ART became the primary contracted entity to provide interfacility transports for the largest trauma hospital system in the state of Idaho, and ground transports for the largest air-ambulance service in the Northwest. With the advent of COVID-19 in 2020, ART introduced UV sterilization for all vehicles, and broadened safety measures for all employees. In 2022, ART became the first ambulance agency in the state of Idaho to add the HAAS alert system to all ambulances, so when emergency lights are activated, approaching drivers receive real-time digital alerts to slow down and move over. These are delivered via apps, navigation systems, or mobile devices to drivers up to 30 seconds in advance and help reduce the risk of collision by up to 90%.
In December of 2022, ART opened a station in Pocatello, Idaho to expand services to Eastern Idaho due to an increased need by the hospitals for patient transfers. Then, in August of 2023, ART opened yet another station in Nampa, Idaho to better serve the people and facilities in the rapidly expanding Treasure Valley.

Wesley Anderson is a home-grown Idahoan. He’s been an EMS care provider and AHA instructor since 1998. Wes began his career as a volunteer EMT with Homedale Ambulance Association. Pursuing his education he became a Paramedic in 2003. In 1999 he became the Education Coordinator for Homedale Ambulance.
From 2004-2005 Wes was the Director Operations for the Treasure Valley’s largest air and ground ambulance service. Serving in Iraq in 2006, Wes provided high threat security paramedicine to diplomats in a war zone for 4 years.
Providing quality humanitarian-centered care, exemplary customer service, and cultivating relationships has always been his driving force. With an emphasis on education, integrity, and community service, Wes continues to be a vital part of the EMS community in Idaho.
Wes served on the board for the Paramedic Program Advisory Committee for Idaho State University in 2017 and was then elected President in 2019. He has been a voting member of Region 3 TSE (Time Sensitive Emergencies) committee since 2018, and a sitting member of TSE Region 5 since 2023.
Under his leadership, Acute Rescue and Transport is the only private ambulance agency who was invited to participate in the Idaho EMS Sustainability Task Force. This task force is a comprehensive group of subject matter experts working together to find solutions to the challenges facing those who provide the emergency medical response throughout Idaho. Wes is proud to serve as both a Member & Sub-committee Chairperson of the Idaho EMS Sustainability Task Force. Wes consistently strives to be a valuable resource for the EMS community.
